Consolidating agent for grisaille and archaeological glass
SIOX-5 RE20C is a consolidating agent with a water-repellent protective function for glassy materials based on sol-gel technology developed by the Group of Chemistry for Cultural Heritage of the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Padua (Patent no. 0001370467 of the University of Padua).
HOW IT WORKS
The product contains nanostructured silica gel. Once applied it forms a layer of amorphous silica thin, colorless, transparent, compatible with the substrate, able to consolidate grisailles of stained glass, archaeological findings with flakes to protect from leaching.
Stained glass windows
Leached and opacified glass
Archaeological finds in glass
Restoration of transparency and gloss
Consolidating effect and high degree of water repellency
Resistance to urban acid pollutants
Reversibility / Possibility of re-applying
